2019 has been a truly incredible year for us. We have photographed some really beautiful weddings and met so many lovely people as we travelled to some stunning locations all over the UK and Europe. Until we have time to publish our Best Of 2019 – with two more weddings to photograph this year we won’t be able to pick our favourite images just yet! However, we did want to recap what a brilliant year it has been for in terms of being recognised for our documentary wedding photography and creative wedding photography. For over the last 12 months, we have won a mind boggling 32 individual awards for our work!

The year started in January with us winning a Bridebook platinum award followed by having an image named as one of the winning Best Wedding Photographs for the previous year (presented by Bridebook and featured in The Evening Standard newspaper – such an honour!) But at that point nothing could prepare for how many awards we would win during the rest of 2019.

We went onto win Fearless Photographers, This Is Reportage, Wedding Photography Select, Nine Dots and Photographers Keeping It Real awards. But the biggest accolade of all was the amazing news that we were given the Best Wedding Photographers award by the Wedding Industry Awards (commonly called the TWIAs). We are still on cloud nine since receiving this news!

When we glance down at the names of the former regional winners of the TWIA Best Wedding Photographer award it fills us with immense pride to now be included on this prestigious list. It reads like a “who’s who” of the very best in our industry and there’s a reason for this. The Wedding Industry Award for Best Wedding Photographer is without doubt the most prestigious award of its kind in our business. The way the award is decided is so wonderful too – it’s not just about a public vote, it takes in the votes of the very best wedding photographers too. Finalists are chosen due to the quality of their work and also the votes of their couples. However, the winners are chosen by peers from the industry – so in our case, fellow award winning wedding photographers, who were the judges for the winner. So to be chosen as the Best Wedding Photographer in Yorkshire and the North East by fellow photographers and our own couples fills us with so much pride. Being recognised by fellow professionals is always really special and knowing that our couples love the job we did at their own individual wedding means so much.

So thank you to our couples, the judges and the Wedding Industry Awards. We now go onto the UK finals of the TWIAs in London this January. We would of course love to win the biggest accolade of Best Wedding Photographer but just making the UK final is amazing. Best of luck to all our fellow finalists, we cannot wait to meet you in January.

As mentioned we also won a plethora of other awards, including awards from the incredibly prestigious Fearless, This Is Reportage, Photographers Keeping It Real, Ninedots and WPS. We also won Wedaward and Wedisson awards. In total, it amounts to 32 individual wedding photography awards won in 2019. We still cannot quite believe that total amount but it really does cap off an amazing year. We cannot wait to relive all the amazing weddings we documented when we pick our favourite moments of 2019. Until then, here are a few individual award winning images.
