We photographed Lucia and Nick’s big day recently and what a wedding it was! We’ve rarely laughed as much as we did all through the day. Lucia and Nick have such infectious personalities and it’s safe to say they match each other perfectly, laughing and joking in the most romantic and natural way possible throughout their wedding. We just stood back and let them be exactly who they are and photographed everything as it happened – this natural way of photographing weddings is why we love our job. Here’s the story of Lucia and Nick’s day. Photography by Hollie and Patrick
We began the day with Lucia and her bridesmaids as they got ready in a beautiful townhouse in Hull, Lucia’s stunning dress hanging behind a foreboding sign warning all ‘Wedding dress – keep out!’ Luckily this didn’t apply to us and we were able to sneak in to take some photos of the dress and all the other amazing details that Lucia had prepared for her big day. Lucia seemed completely free of pre-wedding nerves, until the moment she saw herself for the first time in the mirror. It seemed at this point she couldn’t hold back on a few tears as the realisation began to sink in that her amazing wedding day was here at last. These emotions continued with a really lovely moment with Lucia and her dad, as he saw Lucia in her dress for the first time. Being invited to share a moment like this is such a privilege.
After this we departed for the church we met Nick and his groomsmen and it was soon we were getting ready for the ceremony. The moment two people so in love see each other for the first time on their wedding day is another moment we absolutely love to capture. We were able to document both Nick’s beaming smile and also Lucia’s excited walk up the isle. Lucia and Nick both gave such huge, happy smiles at one another and those smiles didn’t leave their faces for the rest of the day.
From there the day flew by with beautiful speeches, guests queuing to be covered in festival glitter and finally a first dance to remember. Lucia and Nick completely went for it on the dance floor! It was both romantic and fun first dance and fitted the day perfectly. Lucia paused for a few moments to bust a few moves with her sister Harriet, before promptly rejoining her new husband for some Tango-esque steps. Lucia and Nick (just like throughout the whole day) were so completely lost in one another, having the time of their lives.
We absolutely loved this wedding and are so thrilled to bring a selection of our favourite photographs to you here. We were also so thrilled to receive the following feedback from Lucia and Nick: “Oh my goodness- what can we say?! They are absolutely amazing, we are so elated and cannot wait to share them with our family and friends. Thank you so much for all your hard work we are so grateful to have such treasured memories captured so well and which reflect our personalities and love for each other. We LOVE them!” As well as having a great time photographing a lovely couple and their wedding guests, it was also a pleasure to work with the following wedding suppliers: The Bridal Gallery in Bridlington, Watters dress makers, Juniper Cakery, The Floral Lounge, Bows Hairdressing, Wish Upon A Sparkle glitter bar and the band Raiser.
